NZ Day 3, Marsden Point

On Thursday it was time to check out of the hotel and return to Auckland for our flight home.  We made a couple stops on our way.  The first was at Marsden Point, the only oil refinery in New Zealand.  We saw a model that took four people working full time a year to build.  It is very intricate and was used to assist in the construction process.  Lighting on the model was choreographed with a video that showed all the major parts of the refinery and how the process worked.  You can see the boys in the photo below for an idea of how big the model is.  There was another room with interactive displays about oil refining, plus another model depicting the pipeline from Marsden Point to Auckland.  It was a fun and educational stop.
