Go St. Kilda Footy!
Yesterday afternoon we took the train to town to see an Australian Football League (AFL) game at Etihad Stadium, which has a capacity over 53,000 people. AFL is roughly equivalent to the NFL. Australian rules football is like a cross between soccer and our football. The ball is shaped like a football with blunted ends. The players kick it to each other or pass like an underhand volleyball serve. In order to score, the ball has to be kicked between the goal posts. It's a very fast-paced game played on a huge oval field with full-on tackle and no pads. We watched St. Kilda take on Melbourne. A fellow Simplot employee from Boise, here on a two-year assignment with his family, took us to the game. Kyle especially got into the spirit and cheered for St. Kilda like a lifetime fan. We all had a great time.

Glad to see you got to the footy, it is a huge part of life in Melbourne. Hope you all had meat pies to make it a true experience. Glad to hear the boys got into the game, but would advise to cheer for Carlton who are way better than St. Kilda!
